New Yorker shot in the head in the entrance of an apartment building, police say

A 41-year-old woman struggled to survive after a man shot her in the head at an apartment building in Harlem on Wednesday, police said.

Police said the victim was shot and killed shortly before 8:30 a.m. in the sixth floor hallway of Lincoln Houses NYCHA on East 135th Street.

The shooter was wearing a red jacket with black lettering. According to police, he fled on foot towards Harlem River Drive.
