New York Postman Caught Delivering Kilos Of Cocaine From His Truck During Working Hours: Police

Authorities said a Brooklyn postman was caught making a special delivery of kilos of cocaine.

Postal worker Zarvardi Lewis, 35, was charged with drug dealing in Brooklyn Federal Court on Friday after the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General said he delivered at least three packages of cocaine to addresses in Brooklyn in December.

The investigation began after authorities searched a Caribbean package destined for Bedford-Stuyvesant and found it contained about two kilograms of cocaine, special agent Kyle Kniste said in court documents.

The package, which has a street value of about $60,000 according to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, was one of three packages traced by investigators that came from the same sender, all with delivery addresses in the Bed Sty area, and Lewis delivered another. two parcels while working on his route.

Each time Lewis left one of the packages, he received $500 in electronic payments from a woman named Evangeline Neri, according to court documents.

Investigators began to monitor Lewis and witnessed him making another alleged cocaine leak from his mail truck at the Atlantic Terminal shopping center in Fort Greene on January 26, Kniste writes.

There, investigators watched as Neri, 45, from the Bronx, gave Lewis an empty plastic bag before going to the mall, Kniste said.

Moments later, Neri exited the mall and retrieved the bag from Lewis’s truck, although this time, according to court documents, the bag appeared to contain a large brick-like object.

Investigators later found a kilo of cocaine in the bag and searched Neri’s mobile phone, where they found messages with photos, postal receipts and packages similar to those delivered by Lewis, Kniste wrote.

Lewis was arrested and allegedly admitted to agents that he delivered cocaine to Neri at $500 a pack.
