New York ‘duck sauce killer’ wife Glenn Hirsch to face trial: Judge

A judge has ruled that the ex-wife of “duck sauce killer” Glenn Hirsch will stand trial for allegedly hiding his weapon in her apartment, prompting her to burst into tears in a Queens courtroom.

Dorothy Hirsch, 63, began crying and shaking uncontrollably after Queens Supreme Court Justice David Kirshner delivered his ruling in front of more than a dozen of her relatives.

“She’s very disappointed, and so am I,” Hirsch’s lawyer Mark Bederow told The Post, adding that he was “a little taken aback by the decision itself.”

In September, Hirsch was charged with possession of a weapon after police found a cache of weapons at her home in Briarwood.

She pleaded not guilty, and her lawyer relied on DNA evidence to prove that Hirsch had nothing to do with her deranged estranged husband’s firearms.

Bederow filed a motion to dismiss the case, which the judge denied.

“There will be no plea deal,” Bederow promised after Wednesday’s hearing. “There will be no admission of guilt. It’s all or nothing. She is 100% innocent.”

He stated that Hirsch “was charged on the basis of carefully selected evidence,” adding, “For some reason, the court found it admissible.”

The Hirschis lived apart for many years.

Glenn Hirsch, 51, has been charged with the murder of Chinese food delivery man Zhiwen Yang on April 30 in Forest Hills, apparently because a Great Wall restaurant once shortened him on duck sauce on a takeout order.

He committed suicide on August 5 while awaiting trial and wrote in his suicide note that his wife was unaware of the guns in her apartment but had left her with the guns.

The firearms were found inside plastic cases and tin foil, as well as in a box.

“For several months, the district attorney knew with some certainty that none of these firearms were used to carry out Mr. Yang’s murder,” Bederow said Wednesday. “None of them.”

Bederow told The Post after a December court hearing that there was only enough DNA on two items found at Dorothy Hirsch’s home that needed to be tested.

According to a report submitted to the court, results from the medical examiner’s office showed that one sample was 93.7 times more likely to have come from someone other than Dorothy Hirsch, and the other was unrelated to her.

Bederow had also previously filed a motion to dismiss and argued in court that Glenn Hirsch abused his wife for years.

Dorothy Hirsch is due back in Queens Supreme Court on March 13.
