New York City Marathon 2023: key dates runners need to know

In addition, on Monday, NYRR unveiled a new logo and brand identity for the world-famous marathon. According to NYRR, the new design is “simpler and bolder” by retaining elements of the original logo while modernizing its aesthetic. In the updated design, the stripes of the five boroughs merge into the image of Lady Liberty, and the colors reflect the official flag of New York.

“The TCS New York City Marathon is unlike any other marathon – it’s the biggest, boldest and most diverse,” said NYRR CEO Rob Simmelkjaer. “As NYRR embarks on its next chapter, the organization has created a dynamic new brand identity and campaign designed to match the emotion and energy that the marathon brings each year.”

According to NYRR, the new branding and identity campaign will be launched as runners begin to apply for the marathon.

The New York TCS Marathon is one of the city’s most iconic sporting events, attracting runners and spectators of all walks of life, ages and abilities from around the world. Last year, the marathon triumphantly returned to full capacity with almost 50,000 runners after a pause due to the pandemic.
