New roads closed due to icy conditions

Austin firefighters say they’re clearing a 10-vehicle crash at 12700 N. US 183, but it’s just one of many crashes in northwest Austin due to icy roads.

As of 8:45 am on February 3, several roads were blocked due to ice.

In Round Rock, police said flyovers connecting IH-35 and SH-45 were closed and many flyovers and major highways had patches of ice.

Cedar Park Police closed off East Whitestone between North Vista and Arrow Point due to roadway icing, causing several accidents.

They are asking people to slow down. You can’t always see patches of ice until it’s too late.

In Leander, ice has reportedly formed on elevated sections of the 183A toll road, leading to several accidents.

The police are also reminding people that when the traffic light is off, it is considered a 4-lane stop.

Due to power outages in the city, many traffic lights went out, and not all of them stopped.
