New Firefighter Recruits Join Ewing Township’s Fire Department

On June 26, 2024, the township of Ewing, New Jersey, witnessed a momentous occasion as Mayor Bert H. Steinmann proudly announced the successful completion of mandatory N.J. Division of Fire Safety training by seven firefighter recruits from the Trenton/Ewing Fire Academy. These recruits have now embarked on their new roles as firefighters, undergoing orientation sessions at Station 30 commencing on Monday, June 24, 2024. Mayor Steinmann expressed his satisfaction in the diverse composition of these recruits, emphasizing their crucial role in the Ewing Township community, instilling a sense of pride among its residents.

Extending his best wishes to the recruits, Mayor Steinmann highlighted the importance of safety and congratulated them on their achievements. He expressed eagerness for their integration into the township’s firefighting team, foreseeing their valuable contributions in the future. The orientation sessions marked the issuance of Probationary Training Packets to the recruits, along with informative presentations from various township department heads, covering areas such as Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology. Starting from Monday, July 1, the recruits will commence their formal in-service training and be assigned to their respective Platoons and Stations.

Among the newly initiated firefighters are individuals such as Elizabeth Budge, William Person, Franklin Armstrong, Dade Rudzitis, Andre DeSantos, William Walker, Nykai Rambharan, and William Sotovando. Ewing Fire Director Marc Strauss expressed confidence in their preparedness for their firefighting careers, attributing it to the excellent training received at the Trenton/Ewing Fire Academy. He also acknowledged the collaboration with Director Ken Douglas and the academy staff, anticipating further growth in this partnership between the two municipalities.

The culmination of the recruits’ dedication and hard work will be commemorated at the upcoming Fire Academy Graduation scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the NJ State Museum. This event will serve as a testament to the recruits’ commitment to their roles as firefighters, marking the beginning of their journey in serving and safeguarding the Ewing Township community.
