NEISD student faces ‘serious consequences’ after allegedly bringing guns to school

“We once again ask that you continue to discuss school safety with your children,” the principal said in a letter to parents.

SAN ANTONIO. A Roosevelt High School student has been arrested and faces “serious school consequences” after administrators said he brought a gun to campus on Friday.

Principal Brian Norwood wrote in a letter to parents that the suspect said “he had no malicious intent” and “did not make any threatening statements”, but was taken into custody by the county police nonetheless. According to Norwood, an employee heard suspicious activity in the school restroom, after which several students were brought to the office and began an investigation.

“Please use this opportunity to talk to your children about bringing prohibited items to school, especially those that may cause unintentional fear or panic,” Norwood wrote. “We take all cases like this seriously and anyone who brings these items will be punished.”

The type of weapon is not specified.
