NBA fans berate $40 Oreos with team logos: “Are there cookies again?”

Oreo lovers have criticized the manufacturer of a cheap sweet treat for selling a limited edition NBA-style cookie for $40 a box.

Oreo Mondelez is offering a 12-pack of NBA-themed cookies featuring team logos and colors from all 30 franchises as part of a promotion from manufacturer Oreo Mondelez. It is timed to coincide with the weekend of the NBA All-Star Game, which will take place next week in Salt Lake City.

But fans were somewhat shocked when they noticed that the price of these Oreo bags is $39.95, not including shipping.

A regular box of Oreos costs about $4 at the supermarket.

“For $40, the cookie reappears after I eat it,” one Twitter user joked.

Many others on social media have said that Mondelez can do double duty.

“Yes, of course, I want these Oreos with the NBA logo. But $40 a pack? 0% chance,” wrote one Twitter user.

Another commented, “These are some expensive cookies, especially since they cost about $4 a pack at Safeway.”

Another Twitter user responded, “You keep the box.” He added a hysterically laughing emoji.

The Post has asked for comment from Oreo’s parent company, Mondelez International, and the NBA.

In March 2021, the NBA and Mondelez signed a multi-year marketing and licensing agreement that included the initial release of limited edition “NBA Dynasty” Oreo packs featuring select franchise logos on cookies.

Oreo recently introduced its OREOiD technology, with which customers can set their own cookies to include messages and even photos of themselves. The new colorful design features the team logos in creamy white centered between the chocolate lids.
