Nancy Pelosi reacts to Chinese surveillance balloon over US

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was at home in San Francisco on Friday to announce new funding for the Presidio project.

But the hot topic was a Chinese surveillance balloon that flew over the US. She said that this was not only deeply disturbing. But this is a situation that needs to be handled very carefully.

The Chinese spy balloon will drift over the US for at least another couple of days, according to the Pentagon.

Pelosi was candid about the situation.

“It was a bad idea to fly over our country in a spy balloon, it should fall,” she said.

Pelosi has long been critical of China for both its human rights record and its stance on Taiwan. It’s probably not surprising that she has a strong opinion about a Chinese spy balloon flying over secret US military installations.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry denies that the balloon is spying, as they said it was just a weather balloon that went off course.
