Musician Ben Kweller announces death of his 16-year-old son

Relatives and friends say Dorian Zev Queller died in a car accident on Monday night.

DRIPPING SPRINGS, TX – Acclaimed Texas indie rocker Ben Queller took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that his 16-year-old son, Dorian Zev Queller, has passed away.

In the post, Kweller shared that his son was killed on Monday night.

Subsequent reports from Queller’s wife and business associates confirm that Dorian died in a fatal car accident.

Ben Queller grew up in Greenville, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas, and in recent years has settled in Dripping Springs, just over 20 miles west of Austin.

In his Instagram post, Kweller called his son a “true legend”, “the kindest, gentlest soul” and “a friend to everyone”.

“If you knew him, you would know,” Queller wrote. “We will never overcome it while we are here on earth.”

A musician much like his father, who also started his famous professional music career as a teenager, performing with his band Radish at Deep Ellum clubs throughout the 90s, the younger Kweller was set to make his live debut at the annual festival. South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin this March.

“My last message with him was about a merch he wanted to do,” Queller Sr. wrote in an Instagram post. “My little one was at the start and he had so much life ahead of him… I have no idea why things like this happen. We are in complete shock and do not know what the future holds for us.”

Dorian is survived by his father, mother and 12-year-old brother Judah.
