Multiple Injuries in Crash: Pedestrian and Two Drivers Hurt as Pole Strikes Parked Car
GREENARES — A crash near the Buttonwood Shopping Plaza on Friday resulted in injuries to two drivers and a pedestrian, as well as damage to a parked car after being struck by a pole, according to a report from the Palm Beach Country Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred at 5:38 p.m. at the intersection of 10th Avenue North and Seven Springs Boulevard.
According to the crash report from the Palm Beach Country Sheriff’s Office, the accident involved a 2014 Ford Mustang driven by a Palm Springs boy on his 17th birthday. The Mustang was traveling westbound on 10th Avenue North in the outside lane at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Mustang was later found to have suffered critical injuries.
A 2018 Honda CRV driven by a 46-year-old Greenacres man was attempting to make a left turn onto Seven Springs Boulevard from 10th Avenue North. The Ford Mustang collided with the front passenger fender of the Honda, causing it to spin counterclockwise and come to an uncontrolled stop on the grass shoulder. The force of the impact redirected the Ford Mustang counterclockwise into a cement utility pole, which then fell onto a parked 2010 Cadillac CTS.
As the pole fell, an electrical wire struck a 33-year-old man who was riding a bicycle westbound on the north shoulder of 10th Avenue. Fortunately, the bicyclist sustained only minor injuries.
In addition to the critical injuries suffered by the Mustang driver, the Honda driver was also seriously injured. The pedestrian who was struck by the electrical wire from the falling pole sustained minor injuries. The injured parties were promptly attended to and received medical treatment.
Jherry Brown, the owner of the 561 Loc Lounge hair salon on 10th Avenue North, witnessed the crash. She reported that her Cadillac was struck by the utility pole. Brown, who captured video footage of the incident, stated that she had just exited her Cadillac when the collision occurred.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident. It is a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws and exercising caution while on the road to prevent such incidents from occurring.
