Multiple injuries after New Jersey transit bus collided with trucks on highway: NJSP

State police said Tuesday several passengers on an NJ Transit bus were injured after it collided with trucks while traveling on a New Jersey state highway.

The incident, which took place around 7:30 a.m., involved a Line 139 bus with about 30 passengers on its way from Lakewood to the Port Authority of New York terminal. According to police, the bus collided with a Mack and a Freightliner.

The accident occurred northbound near junction 13 in Elizabeth.

Twenty-five passengers were taken to area hospitals, and four passengers refused medical attention. None were seriously injured, police said, adding that the rest of the passengers were placed on another bus to continue their journey.

The investigation is ongoing.
