MSNBC’s Ari Melber skipped his own show due to ‘technical issues’

MSNBC host Ari Melber blacked out during Monday’s ‘The Beat’ broadcast due to a technical hiccup, forcing his co-stars to jump into the host’s seat.

Viewers who were expecting to see Melber at 6:00 pm were instead greeted by Nicole Wallace, host of MSNBC’s “Deadline: The White House,” which airs in the timeslot before “Strike.”

Wallace said that Melber was experiencing “a little technical difficulty” and initially said that he should “be here at a moment’s notice”.

But Wallace continued to receive guests for almost half an hour longer than usual, as problems remained unresolved. At one point during the broadcast, Wallace said that the production staff worked “madly and furiously” to tie up Melber.

“Thank you all at home for sticking with me a little longer than usual on this busy day of news,” Wallace said as she finished the recording.

“Here’s what’s next. I promise we got you. We need to take a short break, and then you will have a treat. The one and only Ali Velshi will be broadcasting live from Ukraine, where it all happened today,” Wallace added.

Welshi took over the remainder of the hour live from Kyiv, where the local time was 1:30 am. He said he was replacing Melber, but did not elaborate.

An online source told The Post that Melber’s absence was due to technical issues with the remote camera. He will return to duty on Tuesday evening, the source added.

Mediaite was the first to report Melber’s absence.

Melber, 42, has been hosting The Beat since its debut in 2017. He is also the chief legal correspondent for MSNBC.

Last Friday, Melber was one of two panelists on HBO’s Live with Bill Maher.
