Motorist causes injury to two motorcycle police officers in East Brunswick collision
Yesterday afternoon, on May 17, 2023, the East Brunswick Police Department received a report of a car crash involving two police motorcycles and a Honda HR-V. The incident occurred at around 4:27 p.m. on Milltown Road at the exit of the Wawa parking lot in New Jersey.
According to the preliminary investigation, the two East Brunswick Police motorcycles were heading east on Milltown Road, while the Honda HR-V turned left from the exit of the Wawa parking lot onto Milltown Road, cutting across the path of the motorcycles. The three vehicles collided in the eastbound lane of Milltown Road.
Sergeant John Bird and Sergeant James Angermeier were injured in the accident. Both of the officers were immediately transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where Sergeant Bird was treated and released, and Sergeant Angermeier remains hospitalized as he undergoes additional treatment for his injuries.
Lieutenant Wade Gordon of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Special Operations Section is conducting an ongoing investigation on the accident. He is currently receiving assistance from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
