Mother of 40-year-old father who was killed a year ago pleads with the public for help

Scott Carter was killed while getting into his car to go to work. He left behind a 14-year-old son.

SAN ANTONIO. The San Antonio police are trying to get any information about the murder of 40-year-old Scott Carter. Today is exactly one year since his death.

On the 500 block of Storywood Drive exactly one year ago today at 6:40 am, Scott Carter’s mother Sandra says he was shot, leaving a distraught family and 14-year-old son. Sandra Carter told us, “I miss my son very much. He left such a big hole in our heart. It’s just hard to imagine.”

Sandra Carter says her son Scott was just about to get into his car and go to work as an electrician when a black F-150 drove by. Surveillance video captured it all. Carter said, “We know that when he got to the end of the street, they parked, pulled over, and the passenger got out and walked up to my son.”

That’s when she says that he was shot and died minutes later. Carter added: “By the time I arrived, my son had already passed away and the police were already there. They tied him up with a rope.”

She says he was very close to his teenage son Tristan, who is coping with his father’s death but receiving support from friends and family. Carter told us, “They had plans for the summer, last summer, you know, really focus on playing basketball and working on basketball skills.”

Today, in memory of him, a balloon was released. His mother said, “It was a nice moment because when we got together as his friends and family, we were able to just share the memories.” Memories of the past, knowing that there will be no more memories in the future.

Carter just wants someone with information about this horrific crime to report it. Carter added: “Of course we want to do the right thing. Then for those others who may know who is behind this, they really encourage them to do the right thing.”

Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of a perpetrator in the Carter murder case. Number to call: 210-224-STOP.
