Mother grieves son killed in nightclub parking lot: “Bullet can’t be reversed”

A tragic event took place in San Antonio last Thursday when a young man lost his life outside the Privat Social Club after being shot. Bonnie Landry, the mother of the victim, Devon King, expressed her desire for justice to be served for her son’s untimely death. In addition to Devon’s loss, three other individuals were also hit in the shooting but fortunately survived.

In an interview with KENS 5, Bonnie Landry shared her sentiments of despair and expressed her sorrow. A balloon release ceremony was also held in Corpus Christi for the 20-year-old on Monday, where friends and family gathered to remember him. Destined for greatness, Devon was described as having a bright future ahead of him.

One of the survivors of the shooting was also Devon’s friend and recounted his story of how Devon assisted him to safety, even though they were both injured in the incident. Through her tears, Bonnie expressed her disappointment and said, “I am really angry. And I am hurt.” It is evident that the mother is still grieving for her son, and the suddenness of the tragedy has left a void in her heart.

The incident unfolded early on Thursday morning, after a fight broke out between two groups resulting in the shooting. Devon, who was residing in San Antonio with his brother, was later admitted to the hospital but eventually succumbed to his injuries. Bonnie expressed her frustration with gun violence, saying that the cycle needs to stop. “If you have to grab a gun, you are a coward,” she said.

Devon was Bonnie’s firstborn, and she spoke with great love, pride, and affection for him. While the investigation is ongoing, Bonnie emphasized that there is plenty of video evidence available, which should help to solve the case. She said, “I am leaving it in God’s hands. You all took something from me that I will never get back. Never. You took a piece of my soul, and I will never get that back. My life will never be the same.”

Despite her deep despair, Bonnie remains grateful for the outpouring of love and support she has received from the community. The San Antonio Police Department has yet to release a description of the suspect, and the case is still open. The police department has urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and report it.

The tragedy that Bonnie and her family have experienced is an unfortunate reminder of the consequences of gun-related violence. It is a tragedy that has left many in the community grieving, and the search for the culprit continues. For Bonnie, no amount of justice can bring her son back, but her hope is that his death will somehow serve as a wake-up call for society to put an end to the growing scourge of gun violence.
