Morning crash kills mission man, suspect arrested

A vehicle collision in the Mission District killed one person early Sunday morning, and authorities said the suspect arrested in the incident was involved in the earlier hit-and-run.

Police responded to a call about a car-pedestrian collision at 2:11 a.m. on 16th Street and Kapp Street. The driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving the injured woman with minor injuries.

Shortly thereafter, officers responded to another collision at 16th and Potrero Avenues involving a vehicle from a previous incident, according to the filing. police.

This time the driver crashed into a car driven by an adult man who suffered several serious injuries. The man was taken to Zuckerberg General Hospital in San Francisco, where he was pronounced dead.

The police detained a man who appeared to be intoxicated at the scene of the second clash, police said. The suspect was also taken to Zuckerberg Hospital for minor injuries. He is currently in custody.
