More than 30 livestock rescued from a plant in Fort Bend County where water and soil are contaminated with E. coli.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – This week, rescuers from the Humane Society of Houston captured more than 30 farm animals, including goats and cattle, at a Fort Bend County packaging plant.

Deputies from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Bend County Attorney’s Office helped the HHS Animal Cruelty Task Force apprehend animals found in small paddocks and pastures where water and soil were reported to be contaminated with E. coli.

The deputies found that the livestock were without food and water.

Fort Bend County Attorney Bridget Smith-Lawson worked to obtain an order to transfer the animals to HHS care.

The animals will remain under their care until they are ready to be accepted or transferred to a shelter.

The investigation into this case is ongoing.
