Monterey Fire asks the public to contribute to a plan to protect the community from wildfires

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV) — The Monterey Fire Department is still seeking public input for a plan to protect the community from wildfires.

The plan will cover the cities of Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel-by-the-Sea. It will analyze the physical characteristics of the community, wildfire risk, and assets at risk from wildfires. The plan will also identify mitigation strategies and actions to reduce the risk of wildfires.

The public poll is available in English and Spanish. The survey will run until May 2023.

Public seminars will be held in Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Details of these workshops will be announced in the coming weeks.
