Mom, 12 year old son missing for a week after disappearing on a trip to the store

Search Launched for Missing Covington Mom and Her Son

Police have launched a search for a Covington mom and her 12-year-old son, who went missing on April 22. Brittany Wiley, 37, and her son Rodney Wiley Jr., were last seen driving Wiley’s mother’s red Ford Escape to run errands at Ross Dress for Less and Food Depot in Covington.

According to Covington police, Wiley had informed her mother that they would be right back after borrowing her SUV to pick up some groceries, but they never returned. The vehicle was last seen on Flock cameras at 6:00 pm on April 22 traveling south on Turner Lake Road to the Food Depot down the road. The license plate on the red Ford Escape appears to be: CS07682.

Brittany is described as 5 feet tall and weighing 135 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Rodney is 4 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds, also with black hair and brown eyes.

Brittany’s mother, Florence Jones, said that her daughter was going to Ross Dress for Less to purchase a dress for a church event the next day. On the way back, Jones asked Wiley to stop at the Food Depot to pick up some ingredients. About an hour and a half later, Jones received a call from her daughter saying that they were going grocery shopping. This was the last time that anyone heard from them.

Jones began to worry when they didn’t return, and she called and texted her daughter, but Wiley never answered. She soon contacted the Covington Police to file a missing persons report.

Police are currently working to reveal details of their investigation, such as whether they have accessed Wiley’s cell phone records or whether the evidence can place her at Ross, the Food Depot or any specific location. Police are not ruling out any possibility and are seeking information that would help locate the missing individuals.

According to Jones, Wiley recently went through a difficult divorce from Rodney’s father and had been temporarily living with her. She expressed hope that her daughter and grandson are safe and well and requested anyone with information to contact the police.

The search for Brittany Wiley and Rodney Wiley Jr. continues, and anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
