MLS games will be available in bars and restaurants via DirecTV.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) – DirecTV bars and restaurants are still able to show Major League Soccer.

The satellite service announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement to bring the MLS season pass to commercial establishments through DirecTV for Business.

Residential DirecTV customers will still need to access the MLS Season Pass through the Apple TV app. On February 1, MLS and Apple entered into a 10-year agreement to distribute games worldwide without power outage restrictions.

DirecTV says the agreement will allow about 300,000 restaurants, bars, hotel lobbies, retail stores and other locations in the US to access games through its satellite equipment.

For the second time in less than a year, DirecTV has partnered with the streaming service to offer a sports package to businesses. Last fall, an agreement was reached with Amazon Prime Video to broadcast Thursday Night Football NFL games.

While DirecTV will no longer be the local carrier of the NFL’s “Sunday Ticket” off-market package of Sunday afternoon games starting with the 2023 season, DirecTV remains in the mix to possibly acquire commercial rights. Google’s YouTube TV won the rights to Sunday Ticket last December.
