Missing Victoria Woman’s ‘Associate’ Found Dead After Police Attempted Interview

Authorities have reported that Amanda Stevenson, a 20-year-old woman from Victoria, Texas, has gone missing since November 19. The Victoria Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in locating her. Stevenson is described as 5’1″ tall, weighing around 125 pounds. She was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, and black shoes.

Stevenson’s mother contacted the VPD on November 21 at 10:30 p.m., expressing concern over her daughter’s disappearance. Since then, the department has been working tirelessly to locate her. The case has been upgraded to critical status after additional evidence was provided.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Stevenson’s cell phone was found locked with an unknown password. Moreover, authorities have identified a “known associate” who would often drive her around the area. This associate was also found to be working for a ride-share service.

Detectives initially interviewed the associate to gather information about Stevenson’s whereabouts. However, when they attempted to reinterview him, they conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. Tragically, during this traffic stop, the associate took his own life. The case is now being handled by the Texas Rangers, with the vehicle in police custody.

In their efforts to find Stevenson, authorities have extensively searched areas frequented by the associate and conducted thorough searches of a property near the city of Yoakum, with the assistance of scent-sensitive dogs and drones. Despite advanced technological efforts, progress has been hindered by the lack of passwords, causing delays in obtaining crucial information.

To keep Stevenson’s mother updated, the VPD has assigned a captain who will provide regular updates as more information becomes available. The police department has urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case in order to avoid creating a false narrative.

Anyone with information regarding this ongoing investigation is urged to contact Victoria Crime Stoppers at 361-572-4200. As the investigation unfolds, KENS 5 will continue to provide updates on this story.
