Missing Person Found Dead on Baldpate Mountain After Intensive Search: Police

Hopewell Township, NJ (Mercer) – On August 21, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Pennington Police Department received a missing person complaint. According to the complainant, the missing person was last seen on Friday, August 18, 2023. Due to the significant amount of time that had passed since their last sighting, immediate search efforts were initiated. As part of these efforts, multiple agencies and personnel with aerial and rough terrain capabilities joined the search operation.

The collaborating agencies included the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, West Windsor Police Department, Lawrence Township Police Department, Hamilton Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit, New Jersey State Park Police, and Mercer County Park Rangers. Furthermore, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Union Fire, Pennington Fire, Princeton Fire, West Amwell Fire, and Signal 22 also lent their support to the search.

After extensive search endeavors, the victim was eventually located, unfortunately deceased. At this time, police are withholding the victim’s information. Although there are no apparent signs of foul play, the investigation is ongoing. The closure of Baldpate Mountain during the police operation has now been lifted, allowing public access once again.

Authorities have emphasized that the joint investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Hopewell Township Police Department and Pennington Borough Police Department.
