Missing Austin’s family, friends gather for a candlelight picket

Family and friends of a missing Austin man gathered for a candlelight party Saturday night. Jason John went missing last Sunday.

“I love you Jason we’re waiting for you to come back and that’s what I don’t know how long I can last I’m holding on real hard I’m doing my best but I don’t know how long I’ll be reaching out I need my son back and I need an answer,” said Jason John’s mother Elsie John.

Dozens of people from all over the world, including Jason’s brother John from Dubai and his dog Raffles, gathered near Chicano Park to sing, pray and light candles after a very long week.

“I didn’t really have any tears left, the first couple of days I had tears, and now it’s time to act,” said Elsie John.

Elsie John said she received a message last Sunday that her son had not returned home on Saturday night. He was with his friends on Rainey Street and left around 2am. His brother, Rinju John, said a minute later that he had been seen on a security camera.

“I’m learning more about the people who were drugged on Rainy Street and given a roof, and based on the 10 minute video I have, it wasn’t my brother walking down that road, he was being influenced by something else.” John said to Rinju. .

Rinju John said that a piece was missing from this puzzle.

“The key point is that there were no cameras on the entire trail, and I was on this trail several times, at 7:30, 11:30, 1:00, it is so dark that it is a very dangerous and shady space,” said Rinju John. “At the end of the day, without these shots, which are not on the whole street, we will not be able to close anything 100 percent.”

Crews searched with helicopters, boats, drones and traveled many, many miles over the course of a week.

“We’re trying everything we can from different angles, spreading the word and working with the Austin police, we’re not getting any results,” Rinju John said.

“He is a smart man, he will not go near the water. Okay, someone caught him, someone kidnapped him, someone drugged him, we need law enforcement,” Elsie John said.

The Austin police are investigating a missing adult case. If you have any information on Jason John’s whereabouts, call the Austin Police Department.
