Mercer County Narcotics Task Force Seizes Cocaine and Handguns

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER) – In a culmination of a three-month investigation into cocaine distribution in Trenton, law enforcement officials reported the arrest of Juan Rivera, 34, and the seizure of $10,500 worth of narcotics, two handguns, and $3,986 in cash, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri.
Rivera, a resident of Trenton, was apprehended on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, as a result of the diligent work conducted by the members of the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hamilton Police Division. Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop of Rivera in a silver Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Greenwood and Walnut avenues in Trenton. The apprehension of Rivera was executed without incident, and authorities seized $3,986 in cash from his person. Furthermore, a subsequent search of Rivera’s residence on Greenwood Avenue in Trenton resulted in the discovery of approximately 105 grams of cocaine and two handguns – a Smith and Wesson .38 special and a Phoenix Arms HP22A.
Rivera is currently facing charges related to narcotics and weapons offenses. To ensure his presence throughout the legal proceedings, the prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain him pending trial.
Prosecutor Onofri estimates that the street value of the confiscated cocaine is around $10,500.
