Megan Millions draw tops $1.35 billion Friday night

The Mega Millions jackpot rose to $1.35 billion ahead of Friday’s draw after weeks of no-one claiming the top prize.

Lottery officials said the jackpot continued its streak of drawings without a winner on Tuesday.

Many people have won smaller lottery prizes, but no one has matched all six numbers or won the top prize since October 14th. These 25 draws in a row without a winner allowed the top prize to roll over and increase over the course of three days. months.

The jackpot was the third largest in US history among all lotteries after another Mega Millions draw and the 2022 Powerball draw. Powerball surpassed $2 billion for the first time in US history back in November 2022.

The only other time the jackpot was this big was on October 23, 2018, when a $1.537 billion ticket was sold in South Carolina.

Although no one matched all six numbers, 6,154,167 people won smaller prizes ranging from $2 million to $3 million. Sixteen tickets matched all five white balls, resulting in a prize of at least $1 million.

Mega Millions is played in every state except Hawaii, Alaska, Nevada, Utah and Alabama. The odds of getting all six numbers in Mega Millions is 1 in almost 302 million.
