Meet new WFAA Daybreak reporter Megan Mitchell.

DALLAS – New face joins the WFAA Daybreak team!

But then again, you may have already seen reporter Meghan Mitchell’s jovial disposition on her social media well before her WFAA debut on Friday, January 27th.

Before moving to the Dallas area to join an old radio station as a reporter for WFAA Daybreak, Mitchell was an anchor and reporter for WLWT in Cincinnati for the past seven plus years. Don’t follow the Ohio news? Social media users may well have dated Mitchell until today: her TikTok account has over 1.8 million followers and her Instagram has over 83,000.

Community, no matter the medium, is important to Meghan.

“I believe that engaging with and contributing to the community is one of the biggest drivers of personal happiness and the best way for humanity to progress,” Mitchell said. “I’m thrilled to really be part of the community here in Dallas.”

During her time in Ohio, Mitchell was active in the LGBTQ+ community and was voted the best TV presenter and best journalist in Cincinnati.

Get it: She also placed third in the Cincinnatians of the Year, behind only Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and beloved hippo Fiona from the Cincinnati Zoo.

Growing up in Connecticut, Mitchell knew from a young age that she wanted to be a journalist and even built her own green screen studio in her high school basement.

She enrolled at Emerson College in Boston to study for that purpose, and spent summers in New York City on NBC News and LogoTV.

“I was drawn to the WFAA because of the legacy it has across the country,” Mitchell said. “The story is told at the highest level. But when I arrived, what excited me most was the community here at the station and the family atmosphere.”

Mitchell said that when she’s not writing about Breaking Dawn, she can be seen watching (or even playing!) lacrosse, running, watching football or basketball, and, of course, creating viral videos on TikTok.

Mitchell said of what she most expects from the WFAA: “I can’t wait to learn from my peers and be able to focus on issues that are deeply important to me.”
