The South Shore father remained silent while his wife, Lindsey Clancy, was in police custody at a Boston hospital following a tragic incident last Tuesday at the couple’s Summer Street home.

Patrick Clancy released his first public statement on Saturday regarding the tragedy that took place at his home in Duxbury, Massachusetts last Tuesday, where his wife allegedly killed the couple’s three children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan.

His wife, a 32-year-old Massachusetts General Hospital employee and native of Connecticut, is charged with two counts of murder, three counts of strangulation and three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. She is suspected of strangling their older children, 5-year-old Cora and 3-year-old Dawson.

Authorities have not said how the 8-month-old Callan died, but he was pronounced dead Friday at Boston Children’s Hospital after being hospitalized with what prosecutors initially called “evidence of harm.” Prosecutors did not say whether they would pursue a third count of murder or any other new charges in the case.

A few days after the death of his two siblings, an 8-month-old baby died, presumably at the hands of their mother.

Patrick Clancy called 911 shortly before 6:15 p.m. Tuesday to report that his wife had attempted suicide. Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said when emergency personnel arrived at the home, they found Lindsey Clancy, along with three children, unconscious and with obvious signs of injury.

The murders stirred up the Duxbury community on the South Bank, and many wondered what could have led a mother to allegedly kill her three children, who were described as having “a wonderful life”.

Patrick Clancy talks about his wife

On Saturday, Patrick Clancy addressed rumors about his wife’s mental health, saying in a statement that she has recently been portrayed “mostly by people who have never met her and never knew who the real Lindsey is.”

He went on to say that her “condition” has recently worsened dramatically, although he did not elaborate on what she was struggling with.

Authorities did not comment on a possible motive for the case or the mother’s mental state, but sources told NBC10 Boston that Lindsey Clancy suffered from postpartum depression.

“Our marriage was wonderful and strengthened diametrically as her condition rapidly deteriorated. I was just as proud to be her husband as I was to be a father, and felt that I was constantly lucky to have her in my life,” he said. “We mutually understood the reality that people can have bad days, but we stuck to the rule that when one of us got lost, the other was always there to bring him home, always. She enjoyed being a nurse, but nothing could compare to her hard work. love for our children and desire to be a mother. It was all she ever wanted. Her passion taught me how to be a better father.”

Patrick Clancy also said he forgave his wife for what she allegedly did and asked others to “find it deep inside themselves” to do the same.

“The real Lindsey was generously loving and caring towards everyone – me, our children, family, friends and her patients. Loving fibers of her soul,” he wrote. “All I wish for her right now is that she finds some peace in some way.”

The Duxbury community is in shock after two young children are killed and a third injured, believed to be their mother.

Patrick Clancy mourns

Patrick Clancy said that “the shock and pain are excruciating and relentless”, noting that he is constantly reminded of his children, and due to his lack of sleep, daydreams about them “on repeat”.

“Many people say they can’t imagine, and they are right, absolutely nothing can prepare you,” he wrote. “Any parent knows that it is impossible to know how much you will love your children until you have them. The same goes for understanding the devastation of their loss. Cora, Dawson and Callan have been my lifeline and I’m completely lost. without them.”

“My family was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was so proud to be Lindsey’s husband and Cora, Dawson and Callan’s father,” he added. “They gave me a purpose and I never took it for granted. Now, where this goal once was, there is a huge void.

The grieving father continued to describe each of his children, recalling what was so special about Core, Dawson, and Callan.

Cora Clancy

Patrick Clancy remembered his daughter Cora for her “infectious laugh” and said she was “stunningly beautiful”.

“She was careful, but really it was because she was so caring. She said she wanted to be a doctor and a mom when she grew up and she would practice testing Callan. To go anywhere, she chose someone to take care of Caroline and Charlotte, her dolls. She had all the accessories for dolls, so her nannies were well equipped. Even before she was 2 years old, she already wrapped them in perfect swaddling clothes. We told her she was such a ‘good little mom’. She loved all babies, both real and imaginary.”

She also loved sloths, unicorns, tea parties, dining with Nana and Grandpa, and giving gifts to people,” Patrick Clancy added of his daughter.

“She knew everything about princesses, her favorite was Sophia the First. She sincerely loved her brothers and us and often said this in her sweet voice. I loved her so much, my firstborn.”

“I think being here with other people will make me feel better, but more importantly with the family of these kids,” said Duxbury’s Diane Monaghan. “Maybe it will help them that they know they have a community behind them.”

Dawson Clancy

Patrick Clancy said that his middle child had “beautiful, bold brown eyes that radiated friendship”.

“He was naturally humorous and generous beyond the typical toddler, always ready to share his toys with others. For all the love he received, he always gave more. His best quality was his pure kindness. He loved trucks, tractors. , dinosaurs, paw patrol, “work guys” and being outside. He was adventurous and mischievous, and enjoyed causing trouble, which he usually found amusing. He was also amazingly smart. We’ve always said that if we don’t save enough for retirement, it’ll be all right – we’ll just live in the Dawson Guest House,” Patrick Clancy shared.

He added that Dawson hugged him tighter than most adults, and every night he invariably told him before going to sleep: “Good night, dad, I love you.”

“We had a special bond from day one. He was my buddy, my first boy and a real gift.”

Callan Clancy

Patrick Clancy recalled his third child as “calm”.

“I always said it was because he was the third child – he had to adapt and he did it easily. It was born with little to no fuss and was by far our best sleep. He was just an incredibly happy and energetic kid, always smiling.” Our nickname for him was Lucky Callan.

“He sat alone and you could tell he was enjoying his growing independence as he grabbed any object within reach. Sometimes he would join my calls to Microsoft in the background, playing his jump. I kept the camera on, too proud to leave it. He started saying “Dada” whenever I entered the room. The last moment we spent together was our routine. I would come out of my office at the end of the day and rock him between my legs while he laughed and smiled.”

“If I ever had a bad day, Callan always knew how to fix me. Maybe that’s why he held on a little longer – to spare me any pain he could. warm until the very last moment. Faith is my only hope of believing that he felt me,” added Patrick Clancy, noting that Callan died “with great courage despite being so small.”

“Maybe it was his way of demonstrating what I need to do to move forward. I will always draw inspiration from him. He will always be my little hero.”

Family members and local residents expressed shock and grief on Wednesday as details of the killings came to light.

An outpouring of support

Patrick Clancy thanked everyone for the outpouring of love and support, noting that the warmth he received was palpable and the generosity shown to him gives him hope that he can focus on “some healing.” He added that he sees and appreciates the messages and contributions of everyone.

“I promise that I will put all my energy into healing and rediscover my purpose. I am indebted to all of you Duxbury firefighters and police, our compassionate healthcare workers, our local religious leaders, the Microsoft community and especially Cora, Dawson, and Callan,” he wrote. “I don’t know how or when I can do this, but your love and generosity will help me get started. I know love always wins.”

“Cora, Dawson and Callan, you have given me so much in the short time you have been here,” he concluded his statement. “I don’t know if the pain will ever go away, but I will do my best to continue in your honor. Dad loves you very much and will always remember you.”
