March 10 Recruitment Event hosted by the San Angelo State Life Support Center.

The event will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Wingate by Wyndham, 3620 S. Jackson Street.

SAN ANGELO, Texas. Adults with intellectual disabilities may need extra help with access to food, water, shelter, etc.

Based in Carlsbad, the San Angelo State Life Support Center caters for approximately 130 adults with cognitive disabilities, and the organization is hosting a recruitment event in San Angelo on March 10th.

“This is a mega-event for hire,” said Heather Kevin, director of public relations for the San Angelo State Life Support Center Volunteer Service Division.

“This is an all-inclusive event, so just bring your ID. You can go through and do everything for the recruitment process in one day and then start your career with us,” she added.

The event is scheduled from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Wingate by Wyndham, 2620 S Jackson Street, and the center is looking for a variety of roles.

According to Kevin, some of the open positions include direct care staff, licensed professional nurse, registered nurse, housekeeper, maintenance, professional staff, and more.

Prospective employees will be required to present a driver’s license to verify identity, then the organization will take fingerprints and conduct a background check.

Department heads will also be in attendance and participants will have the opportunity to meet prospective employers, participate in job interviews and possibly land a job in just a few hours.

“We are all one team,” Kavin said. “So our motto is one team, one dream, so we would like someone to join our team and make the lives of our residents better.”

Every Wednesday, the San Angelo State Life Support Center hosts recruitment events at the Workforce Solutions Center, 202 Henry O Flipper Street.

For Kavin, Friday’s event will help raise awareness of the center and its mission to help others.

“It’s all about teaching them [the residents] the skills they need to be successful citizens, so we need people who want to help others and are passionate about it to work with us,” she said.

The event is open to the public and does not require pre-registration.
