Manhattan Bodega Killer Wanted For 3 Other Brooklyn Bronx Heists: What You Need To Know

The masked jumpsuit man who shot his beloved Manhattan wine cellar salesman in the head during an attempted robbery on Friday night robbed another deli in a different area less than half an hour later, and police said Monday that they believe he is at least two other robberies in brooklyn in the last two weeks.

Authorities did not identify the 67-year-old victim of Friday’s “horrible murder” but described him as an integral part of society. A witness, who was at the store around 11:30 p.m. that night and escaped the horrific scene, told police that the shooter entered in a full suit – the kind of white suit a house painter wears at work – and a dark mask to hide his face.

The witness said the shooter pointed a gun at the witness, then ordered the man to lie down and empty his pockets. The suspect then turned his attention to the clerk and started hitting him with the butt of his pistol. When this attack took place, police say the witness ran out of the grocery store.

According to the New York police, after going outside, the witness said that he heard a gunshot. The clerk was found dead behind the counter with a single bullet in his head. The shooter was seen fleeing the scene on a dark scooter.

Senior NYPD officials say these are the same clothes and the same vehicle that the same man allegedly used in three other robberies, two before the deadly robbery in Manhattan and then in the Bronx shortly after the Upper East Side murder.

The two crimes that set the pattern took place in Brooklyn. In the first incident, on Saturday, February 25, police say they believe the same shooter entered the Sunset bagel store on Foster Avenue, took some cash and mobile phones, and fled the store on a dark scooter. He was again in a dark mask and painting overalls.

A few days later, on March 1, he allegedly walked into the Super Deli on Manhattan Avenue—this time late in the morning—and pretended to make a purchase. He then flashed a gun, announced a robbery, and stole cigarettes and money before leaving on a scooter. The Bronx grocery store robbery Friday night after the Manhattan shooting was like this.

None of the other robberies involved fatal violence – and the NYPD says it understands how much a shooting – and a serial robber on the loose – frightens society.

“We stand in solidarity with the thousands of hard-working New Yorkers who make their living in our neighborhood’s wine cellars,” NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Edward Kaban said from the scene of what he called the “grisly murder.”

“We are all outraged by this act of violence. Each of us here grew up in this city. We know what the neighboring wine cellar means. how is the family. I’m not surprised that people left postcards, candles and flowers here,” Kaban said.

“In the midst of COVID, these frontline workers have been working for all of us, big and small. We have not forgotten about it, and we are disgusted that this innocent person was taken to such a cowardly act, ”he added. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and to all who mourn this senseless loss.”

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
