Manatee breaks free from mudflat in Jacksonville

(WSVN) — A manatee was freed from a mud flat after firefighters spotted the animal.

On January 7, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Service helped a sea cow from the St. Johns River.

The crew said the manatee was probably stuck.

Rescuers found a long trail where the manatee tried to get into deeper water but was not fast enough to get into the water.

The manatee is in good health.
