Man shot to death in shootout near Times Square; Police looking for two suspects

Police said the man was shot dead after gunfire broke out in the Times Square area on Thursday, causing a stir at the popular tourist spot.

According to police, the shooting occurred near 44th Street and Eighth Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. It is not known what led to the shooting, but the bullet hit the right side of the chest of a 22-year-old man.

The victim then ran a block before collapsing in front of a deli on West 43rd Street. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Mt. Sinai West Hospital, where he died, police said.

There was an extensive crime scene near the Shake Shack where the shootout took place, with a large police presence, police said. It is unclear how many shots were fired.

No one has been arrested yet, police are looking for two people in connection with the shooting.
