Man Killed in Orlando Hit-and-Run Crash Mourned by Grieving Friend

Tragic Hit-and-Run Crash Claims the Life of 19-Year-Old Latrell Anderson in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – The devastating loss of 19-year-old Latrell Anderson in a hit-and-run crash on Edgewater Drive in Orlando has left his loved ones, including his best friend Sanae Knowles, grappling with grief. Knowles, who had known Anderson for a decade since their upbringing in the Bahamas, expressed her disbelief at the tragic incident that claimed the life of someone she spoke to daily.

A Valencia College student and aspiring nurse, Anderson was described by Knowles as a selfless individual who prioritized helping others. The shocking news of his untimely demise reached Knowles through an unexpected phone call from her cousin, leaving her initially in denial. Despite reaching out to Anderson via text, the absence of a response confirmed the heartbreaking reality.

Knowles shared, “We literally planned everything that could possibly happen, that we would have to eventually support each other for, but it was never the thought or the idea of losing one another.” The immense bond they shared made Anderson’s sudden departure all the more difficult to fathom for Knowles and their loved ones.

Surveillance footage obtained by News 6 sheds light on the moments leading up to the tragic incident. In the early hours of that fateful morning, an SUV traveling north on Edgewater Drive near Hambleton Avenue veered off the road and collided with the Henao Contemporary Center, where an event was taking place. The SUV then careened towards a group of individuals, ultimately striking a pole and tragically claiming Anderson’s life.

Following the collision, the driver and passengers fled the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol later identified the hit-and-run driver as 20-year-old Alexis Lima. Lima was subsequently apprehended and is now facing multiple charges, including leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

Knowles expressed her disbelief at the driver’s actions, stating, “Running away after you’ve injured somebody is not something I could see anybody doing.” In addition to Anderson’s loss, a female individual inside the building at the time of the crash was struck by debris and sustained minor injuries. Speaking with News 6 reporter Treasure Roberts, she expressed gratitude for being alive while mourning the tragedy that befell Anderson.

The devastating hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Latrell Anderson has left his loved ones shattered and the community reeling. As legal proceedings unfold against the driver responsible for this heart-wrenching incident, the memory of Anderson’s selflessness and aspirations as a nurse will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
