Man hit by train in Salinas identified

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) — Salinas police said a man was hit by a train Tuesday afternoon.
A man in his 30s was on the tracks for an unknown reason when he was hit, police said. The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. near the overpass around East Alizial Street.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 33-year-old Thomas Zink.
It is not known if the man was a temporary traveler, police said.
The Salinas police said it was a Union Pacific Railroad case as they own the tracks. Any additional information should come from them.
