Man from Jackson Township Faces Charges for Drug Distribution and Weapons Possession

On February 15, 2024, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer made a significant announcement regarding a collaborative effort between various law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution of illegal narcotics in Ocean County. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, in conjunction with the Lakewood Township Police Department, Jackson Township Police Department, Brick Township Police Department, Toms River Township Police Department, Manchester Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police Drug Trafficking Central Unit, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, conducted a thorough two-month investigation that led to the identification of Justin Love, a 25-year-old resident of Jackson Township, as a key figure in the distribution of crack cocaine in the area.

During the investigation, which commenced in December 2023, detectives from the aforementioned agencies closely monitored Love’s activities and established that he was using a residence on Deer Path in Lakewood as a base for storing and distributing crack cocaine. On February 14, 2024, the Lakewood Township Police Department Special Response Team executed a court-authorized search warrant at Love’s residence and his vehicle. The search yielded approximately 15 grams of crack cocaine, a semi-automatic handgun, drug paraphernalia, and around $5,000 in United States Currency. A subsequent search of Love’s vehicle led to the discovery of additional crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and currency. Love was apprehended without any resistance at the scene.

Subsequently, Justin Love was charged with a myriad of offenses including Possession of Less than One Half Ounce of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Oxycodone Without a Valid Prescription, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, and Possession of a Weapon During a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense. Presently, Love is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer expressed his appreciation for the collective efforts of all the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation and subsequent apprehension of Justin Love. It is essential to note that the charges against Love are allegations at this stage, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The collaborative approach taken by the various agencies underscores the commitment to combating illegal drug distribution in Ocean County.
