Man found guilty of crimes against a child in Lee County

FORT MYERS, Florida. The man was found guilty on charges of sexual assault, a child under 12, and indecent or lascivious harassment.

The jury returned a guilty verdict against Steven Craig Ford after a three-day trial in Lee County.

According to court records, the investigation began in October 2020 by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office when the child victim told his friend about a past sex crime committed against them by the defendant. This conversation during sports practice was overheard by a family member of the victim who told an adult who contacted a member of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Information gathered during the investigation showed that the defendant molested the child on several occasions between September 2014 and September 2020 in Lee County.

Ford was then arrested for the crimes.
