Man driving in the wrong direction on Okeechobee Boulevard dies in crash

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — A 51-year-old man driving in the wrong direction on Okeechobee Boulevard died Monday afternoon in a collision with two westbound vehicles, West Palm Beach police said.

Mike Jackles, a spokesman for the agency, said authorities believe the man required emergency medical attention. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

A 2009 Honda Accord driven by Kevin Connors of Royal Palm Beach was driving in the wrong direction on Okeechobee, heading east on the westbound lane shortly before 3:30 pm.

West Palm Beach Fire Department paramedics rushed Connors to the Good Samaritan Medical Center in critical condition, where he died shortly after arrival.

Veronica Keating, 72, of South Palm Beach, driving a 2019 Mercedes C300, was turning west onto Okeechobee Boulevard from the north exit onto I-95 when the impact spun the Mercedes around and hit the vehicle behind it, a 2018 BMW 740E. behind the wheel is 63-year-old Arnold Bramnik from Boca Raton.

Keating was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Brummick was unharmed.

Westbound traffic on Okeechobee Boulevard was changed to exit Interstate 95, and northbound traffic exiting the Interstate at Okeechobee Boulevard was diverted east while the crash site was cleared.
