Man curses anti-gay woman before punching her in Bronx deli
On Saturday, police searched a man who they said was shouting anti-gay slurs at a woman in a Bronx deli, then hit her so hard she fell to the ground.
The 25-year-old woman was in the 120 Circle Deli store on Hugh Grant Circle near Virginia Avenue in Unionport at approximately 11:25 a.m. Friday when a man approached her and barked, “F*ggot!” and punched her in the mouth, the cops said.
After the woman fell to the ground, the assailant ran out of the grocery store. He was last seen boarding the No. 6 train bound for Pelham nearby, police said.
Doctors rendered the victim on the spot a lacerated wound on the lip.
The police described the man as about 6’1″ tall and about 30 years old. Surveillance photos show him wearing a white hoodie, dark pants, a white mask, and plastic bags around his legs.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD Crime Squad Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
