Man curses anti-gay woman before punching her in Bronx deli

On Saturday, police searched a man who they said was shouting anti-gay slurs at a woman in a Bronx deli, then hit her so hard she fell to the ground.

The 25-year-old woman was in the 120 Circle Deli store on Hugh Grant Circle near Virginia Avenue in Unionport at approximately 11:25 a.m. Friday when a man approached her and barked, “F*ggot!” and punched her in the mouth, the cops said.

Police have released these images of the attack suspect, which they are investigating as a hate crime.

After the woman fell to the ground, the assailant ran out of the grocery store. He was last seen boarding the No. 6 train bound for Pelham nearby, police said.

Doctors rendered the victim on the spot a lacerated wound on the lip.

The police described the man as about 6’1″ tall and about 30 years old. Surveillance photos show him wearing a white hoodie, dark pants, a white mask, and plastic bags around his legs.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
