Man arrested for drunk driving after crashing into victim’s car while trying to leave scene

Witnesses say that after the accident, the suspect got out of the car and began to leave without checking the victim.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after he crashed into a woman’s car and then tried to leave without checking her, according to police.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the 3600 block of Roosevelt Avenue in the northeast part of the city.

Police say the victim was driving south on Roosevelt Avenue while trying to turn left into a Walmart parking lot.

The suspect was driving in the same direction as the victim. As the victim stopped to turn, the suspect ran into her, pushing her car into the parking lot of a nearby business.

The suspect made a sharp left turn after the crash and ran out onto the lawn before crashing into a telephone pole. Witnesses say that after the accident, the suspect got out of the car and tried to leave without checking the victim.

Arriving police officers found the suspect in a state of intoxication.

It was also determined that the suspect had a conviction for drunk driving.

A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

The victim received minor injuries as a result of the accident.
