West Palm Beach, Fla. – In a momentous event, The Lord’s Place unveiled its newest facility on Thursday morning, providing a haven for hundreds of individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown West Palm Beach. After an extensive five-year endeavor, the 25,000-square-foot center, located along Australian Avenue, opened its doors in June. To commemorate this achievement, The Lord’s Place board members, local officials, and clients congregated at the facility’s address, 2808 N Australian Avenue.
The atmosphere was filled with celebration and gratitude as attendees acknowledged the tireless efforts invested in breaking the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County. The organization considers this new facility a testament to the unwavering support received from the community. Diana Stanley, the CEO of The Lord’s Place, shared her perspective on the transformative impact the building has had since its inauguration earlier this summer.
“We witness an overwhelming sense of gratitude from our clients who enter this space, finally finding solace and initiating conversations about the challenges they face due to homelessness. This building is purposeful – it ignites a sense of direction and motivation. Our responsibility at The Lord’s Place is to guide individuals towards a purposeful future,” explained Stanley in an interview with WPTV.
During the celebratory event, Stanley recounted the obstacles encountered throughout the facility’s development. Despite receiving approval to construct the building in 2018, the project faced setbacks such as the unforeseen hurdles posed by the pandemic and Stanley’s own breast cancer diagnosis. In light of these challenges, Stanley expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support received from numerous individuals, emphasizing that the realization of this new facility would not have been possible without their contributions.
With the introduction of this new center, The Lord’s Place continues to make significant strides towards mitigating the impact of homelessness in Palm Beach County. Through their unwavering dedication and the generosity of the community, they are providing a sanctuary where individuals can find respite, engage in dialogue about homelessness, and redefine their purpose. This monumental achievement stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and compassion in transforming lives and creating a brighter future for those in need.
