Livermore Police Reunite Long Lost Dog With Southern California Family

Livermore Police have reunited a French Bulldog with his owners after he was likely captured over a year ago.

Police said they found a parked car on January 4 that was said to have been driven recklessly. The driver of the vehicle “ran away,” police said in a Facebook post, but was identified as being on parole with a valid warrant for violating parole without bail.

Police found an abandoned French Bulldog in the car, which they took to the Eastern District Animal Shelter in Dublin. The crew also towed the car.

A technician from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office microchipted the dog and discovered that the dog belonged to a family in Chula Vista in San Diego County.

The sheriff’s office contacted the family and learned that the dog’s name was Mooney and had been missing for over a year.

The family told the shelter that at the time of Muni’s disappearance, they were being haunted by messages from an unknown sender asking for money to bring him back. The alleged perpetrator never provided any evidence that they had Muni, so the family believed they were being scammed.

Once the owners knew Mooney was safe, they drove north, reunited with the dog, and took her home.
