Little girl recovers after drive-by shooting in Orlando

(WSVN) — A little girl is now recovering after she was the victim of a drive-by shooting near Orlando.

“The bullet went through the trunk and went through the trunk, through the back seat, through my child car seat,” Thomas Banks said.

Banks showed the bullet hole that hit his daughter as she sat in her car seat on Tuesday.

Now her arm is in a cast.

The little girl and her mother had just arrived at their home in Hidden Creek Villas when the shooting took place.

“She just picked her up from kindergarten and just pulled up to the parking lot and out of nowhere came gunfire. Unfortunately, one of the past bullets hit my daughter in the arm,” Banks said.

The bullet went through Zaria’s left arm.

“Her mother called me, she was crying and saying that our child had been shot. So I just rushed to the hospital,” Banks said. “Thank God my baby survived. Judging by the way the bullet went, she definitely had a guardian angel.”

As for his girlfriend, Zaria’s mom was traumatized.

“Whatever mother you are,” Banks said.

He said that no parent should ever experience something so traumatic.

“Unfortunately, my daughter was targeted. We need to pass laws or something like that,” Banks said. “We won’t go into too much detail about filming with her because she’s very young. She asked if she was shot, but I think she thinks it’s like a doctor’s shot. Right now, we’re just going to let her think she is,” Banks said.

Father is grateful to everyone who helped.

“A lot of people came to help. I don’t know who they are, but all the guardian angels, I appreciate you all in helping my child survive. I am very grateful. I thank everyone for the prayers and support. I definitely need them, still need them for her to make a full recovery,” Banks said.

Thomas said his daughter was acting normal again.

No arrests were made.
