Legislative Election Bills (March 9, 2023)

On Thursday’s show: Two bills filed this week aim to return control of elections to elected officials, but only in counties with more than a million people. We learn more about these and other election-related bills before the legislature from News 88.7. Andrew Schneider.

Also this hour: We learn how researchers at the University of Houston plan to help small farmers increase their yields while reducing their carbon footprint.

Then this year, the STAAR test will be launched online. We discuss the pros and cons and find out what concerns educators about this development.

And Pink Floyd’s seminal album Dark Side of the Moon came out 50 years ago. It has since been used as a backdrop for the planetarium’s light shows and synced up with The Wizard of Oz for the rather timely “Dark Side of the Rainbow”. The Houston Museum of Natural History is one of the organizations that took part in the Dark Side/Planetarium show. We visit their planetarium and discuss why the music goes so well with the planetarium show.
