LCSO: Fort Myers Nanny Stole Family Dog

LEE COUNTY, Florida. Deputies were called to a house on Caisson Lane in Fort Myers to report a stolen dog.

When they arrived, the family reported that their dog, Lady, was missing and suspected that Eileen Schultz had stolen the dog.

Schultz worked as a nanny for the family for a long time and was fired on the same day.

Detectives contacted Schultz at the Fort Myers hotel.

Investigators say she denied taking the dog with her but changed her story when hotel workers told deputies she had brought the dog.

She is said to have admitted to adopting the dog but changed her mind and wanted to return the pet to the family, but instead left the dog in Penzance Blvd & Caisson Lane.

The deputies, along with detectives, searched the area and found Lady in the village of Danforth Lakes, where a local resident sheltered her for the night.

The deputies and detectives reunited the Lady with her owners.

Schultz was arrested for grand theft and sent to the Lee County Jail.
