Kylie Jenner faces backlash over scandalous lion-head dress

Kylie Jenner was almost consumed by the massive lion head on her Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress at Paris Fashion Week on Monday.

The reality TV star and makeup mogul wore a dramatic black velvet dress with a drawstring and an embroidered lion’s head attached to her neckline.

According to the designer’s Instagram page, the animal’s head was created from “hand-sculpted foam, wool and silk faux fur and hand-painted to look as realistic as possible, celebrating the glory of the natural world.” They stressed that “NO ANIMAL IS DAMAGED IN THE CREATION OF THIS LOOK.”

The flamboyant design sparked a backlash on social media, with users stating that the animal’s heads could contribute to trophy hunting.

One user wrote on Instagram: “The only thing this glorifies is the killing of these animals, even if it’s fake. The lion, cheetah, and wolf all seem to be literally made to look like they’ve been killed and used for clothing. … How does it celebrate the natural world? Make it logical.”

Another person expressed dismay, writing, “Sorry, but for me this is not. Fake or not, this promotes animal cruelty,” with an additional comment reading, “Praise the glory of the natural world???? It’s so wrong. You promote animal cruelty and support trophy hunting and poaching.”

jenner shared her look on Instagram and thanked Schiaparelli designer and creative director Daniel Rose Berry. “The beauty and the Beast. Thank you @danielroseberry and @schiaparelli for such a special morning. Wow, I loved wearing this faux art piece, handcrafted with faux materials. beautiful beautiful,” Jenner wrote along with a series of photos.

However, some of her followers were critical of her decision to model for the design, noting, “There are times when you just say no.” It was one of them.” Another person wrote: “One of your worst fashion mistakes of all time.”

Jenner’s rep did not comment.

The realistic creation was one of several looks to debut at the Schiaparelli show, as models walked the runway with other animal faces attached to their ensembles.
