John Travolta burst into tears while presenting the Oscars in memory

“They touched our hearts. They made us smile and became close friends to whom we will always be hopelessly devoted,” Travolta said, referring to his late Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John.

Newton-John, who received the first award during the performance of Lenny Kravitz, died in August last year. She was 73 years old.

“My dear Olivia, you have made our lives so much better,” Travolta wrote at the time. “Your influence has been incredible. I love you so much. We will meet again on the road, and we will be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you, and forever! Your Danny, your John!

From 1973 to 1983, Newton-John was one of the most popular artists in the world. The fast duet of Travolta, Newton and John “You’re the One That I Want” became one of the most popular songs of the time and sold over 15 million copies.

Due to constant complaints about the In Memoriam segment, except for some numbers, a website was set up at the end to encourage people to check the lost legends. Among the many who are remembered during the telecast: Irene Cara, Ray Liotta, Nichelle Nichols, Angela Lansbury, Louise Fletcher, Burt Bakara, Mary Alice, Gina Lollobrigida, James Caan and Raquel Welch. Among those who were not present were the recently deceased actors Tom Sizemore and Robert Blake.
