Jamaican votes set for February 24 – culture and business in focus

MIAMI GARDENS – In honor of Black History Month Jamaica US Chamber of Commerce hosts 14th Annual Voices of Jamaica in association with various US Department of Commerce programs run by M. Gill & Associates.

The celebration is scheduled for Friday, February 24th., at 6:00 pm at Sagrada Familia Episcopal Church, 18501 NW 7th Ave, Miami Gardens, FL 33169. This year’s theme is Black in Black – Business and Culture.

“Throughout this month, we recognize and honor the achievements of those who have come before us,” House President Marie Gill said. “Black History Month is a time when we honor all the descendants of Africa by showcasing Jamaica’s contribution to black history – and that’s exactly what Voices of Jamaica is all about.”

According to the non-profit Institute for Migration Policyabout 336,000 members of the Jamaican diaspora live in Florida, with most of them concentrated in South Florida.

“We are excited to bring the community together for this celebration and encourage everyone to join us and enjoy the cultural activities and networking opportunities,” said Ms. Gill.

Voices of Jamaica is sponsored by various Jamaicans and made available to the public free of charge. The participants will enjoy an evening filled with music, cultural performances, Jamaican trivia and business meetings. Those who wish to participate can book your place here.
