‘It’s heartless’: Two horses stolen from southwest Miami-Dade barn are found killed blocks away

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FL. (WSVN) — A barn break-in leads to a gruesome find for a horse owner in southwest Miami-Dade.

Speaking to 7News on Sunday, David Bradley said the unsettling chain of events involving his two horses left him and his loved ones devastated.

“For someone with the guts to do something like this, it’s heartless,” he said.

According to Miami-Dade police, the overnight horse robbery took place on the Bradley property off Southwest 207th Avenue early Saturday morning.

“It’s the same as going into someone’s yard and taking their dog and cooking it up,” Bradley said.

Bradley said that two of his horses, Sammy and War on the Home Front, were stolen from the stall.

“We noticed that the fence had been cut down and at that point we knew they had been taken,” Bradley said.

Subsequent searches ended in a tragic find.

The horse corpses were found Sunday morning near a canal on southwest 205th Avenue, a few blocks from the barn.

“These are our children and they were kidnapped and killed for meat,” Bradley said.

“Both horses were slaughtered somewhere over the weekend,” MDPD Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said. “We need to unite, help the detectives in this investigation. Let’s close the family a bit and, of course, put these people behind bars who committed such a heinous crime.”

A grim discovery has revealed a secret that has left the family heartbroken and now looking for answers.

“Our kids are heartbroken, my wife is heartbroken and we’re just trying to get through this,” Bradley said.

Detectives are trying to identify the organizer of the robbery.
