Italian Food Chain & Virtual Restaurant Behemoth Bucca Di Beppo On The Move In San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter

Bucca Di Beppo’s decades-old location in downtown San Diego has closed and will soon relocate to the more-central Gaslamp Quarter space previously occupied by Du-par’s Diner.
Buca di Beppo is an American-Italian restaurant chain founded by Phil Roberts in Minneapolis, MN, in 1993. The 30-year-old company was purchased in 2008 by Planet Hollywood’s parent company for $28.5 million and now has approximately 70 locations around the U.S.. Planet Hollywood Inc.’s founder Robert Earl is also instrumental in the operation of many celebrity-backed ghost kitchen concepts under his Virtual Dining Concepts brand, including Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen, MrBeast Burger, DJ Paulie D’s Italian subs, Mariah Carey’s Cookies and Mario Lopez Tortas, to name a few.
The downtown San Diego branch of Buca di Beppo, which has been located at 705 6th Avenue near the East Village since 1999, has shuttered and will soon relocate to the long-dormant space last occupied by Du-pars for 6-months until the 24-hour diner chain closed in February 2017. Buca di Beppo’s larger downtown San Diego space will allow it to increase its in-house virtual restaurant business, in addition to having more pedestrian traffic. There are additional San Diego Buca di Beppo locations in Mira Mesa and Carlsbad.
