Investigation timeline of missing Lyft driver Gary Levin

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida. Gary Levin, 74, a Lyft driver from Palm Beach Gardens, was has been missing since January 30th.

His car was found in North Carolina on Thursday, the driver was a man wanted in a murder case that occurred in southwest Florida.

Below is a timeline of his disappearance:

Levine’s daughter said her father left the Palm Beach Gardens home on Monday around noon.

Levin’s phone last logged into the Lyft app at 1:22 p.m. Monday, when he called a customer in Delray Beach, his daughter said.

Relatives said that the car was seen by cameras on toll roads in Miami. Levin was then seen walking to Wawa in Boynton Beach at 2:30 pm on Monday.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff confirmed to WPTV that Levin’s phone was pinged within Okeechobee city limits near Park Street at US 441, around 4:30 pm Monday, the family said.

Gainesville police said Levin’s license plate on his red 2022 Kia Stinger was detected by camera readers on Wednesday. That night, the Palm Beach Gardens police reported a missing person. On Thursday morning, this changed to Missing and Endangered.

Then Thursday night, NC Highway Patrol spotted Levin’s car in McDowell County and began a pursuit in Rutherford County.

Police in the area said there was an accident during the chase.

Authorities said the driver, 35-year-old Matthew Scott Flores, tried to escape from the car but was pulled over by police and arrested.

Flores appeared before the Rutherford County Judge.

Police from North Carolina to Florida are currently working to piece together this case.

Flores was held without bail for a parole violation and $615,000 bail for North Carolina charges that include evading law enforcement, speeding, and drunk driving.

He appeared at a brief hearing in North Carolina, where the judge set bail at $2 million and scheduled another hearing for February 22.
